French hospitals and "emergency" cares
France have a good functioning of its hospital system and its emergency cares. All the sites retained are relatively close to a hospital or a hospital centre. In case of emergency, the phone numer is this one :
- 18 : to call the firefighters from a fixed phone
- 112 : to call the firefighters from a mobile phone
Rescuers generally arrive in 5-10 minutes, according to the place of the accident.
Check if your insurance company has offices in France to see if it is necessary to pay in advance. Sportsmen/sportswomen can subscribe an insurance in a French insurance company in their country, they can also subscribe a normal insurance for the visa, or subscribe an insurance for high level sportsmen/sportswomen at their arrival in France. These procedures are necessary to better cover the sportsmen/sportswomen and to simplify the process in case of an accident.
Be careful : for the sportsmen/sportswomen considered as amateurs or professionals, the difference of insurance is quite important.
They are two sorts of catering : hotels, and self-catering cottages or group catering. Hotels are generally in towns or near to towns. Self-catering cottages or group catering are generally outlying or in the country.
Generally, 3 stars or more hotels have a restaurant to ensure half-board or full-board. Some 2 stars hotels also have a restaurant. In some hotels restaurants are closed in the week-end, make an enquire on the restaurant' s timetable and opening days, and check if it is possible to plan exceptional openings for the group.
Some self-catering cottages or group catering are half-board or full-board. They are most of the time equipped with kitchens. If your team has come with cooks, self-catering cottages or group catering are the better alternative.
Most of the sites are in town or near to towns. However open air sites, like VTT areas and some canoeing sites can be more distant from the towns.
From several years, we notice the emergence of a new sort of accommodation – the hotel residence. It is an accommodation which takes the form of a flat or a studio flat often equipped with a kitchen, and situated in the towns. We can say that they are urban self-caterings with an hotel standing service.
The prices indicated for the sites are moderate prices, the price varies according to the period and the size of the group, ask in advance to have an advantageous price.
Please inform us about all your applications so that we can help you finding the better catering possible.
